View from Glen Lochan towards the peak of Sgor Bhan. ('The Ballachulish Horseshoe'.)
The lochan and surrounding woodland were created by Lord Strathcona in the nineteenth century in an attempt to recreate the Pacific NorthWest for his homesick native-American wife. The lochan nestles in the centre of the wood surrounded by majestic conifers.
Owned by the Forestry Commission today, there are a network of forest paths around the lochan offering superb views over Loch Leven and the Glencoe mountains.
