Mountain-biking World Championships, Fort William, 4th - 11th September - Local Accommodation Vacancies

The 2007 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships comes to Fort William on the above dates. Based at the Nevis Range Mountain Resort, which has several years experience in holding international mountain-bike events, it promises to be a great week with the world's top riders coming to Lochaber.

With an expected 40,000 visitors to the area, as well as the usual summer holiday tourism influx, accommodation in the local area will be at a premium. But contrary to popular belief, there are still accommodation providers with vacancies at the time of writing.

Have a look at the accommodation page of the World Chamionship website for a regularly updated list of local vacancies. If you're thinking of coming along to watch, we'd recommend booking tickets and accommodation asap though. See you there!

Landscapes by Cubby Images

  • Glencoe from Loch Leven
Dave Cuthbertson (Cubby) is one of Scotland's foremost climbers, with many cutting-edge, first ascents to his credit. He was instrumental in providing Scottish climbing with something of a new face-lift in the 70's and 80's (and into the 90's)and has played a significant part in the development of modern rock and ice climbing in Glen Coe; a passion that continues to this day. Cubby makes a living as an International Mountain guide, which he combines with photography and occasionally providing safety and technical consultancy to the TV and film industry. His most recent assignment was something of a starring role in which Cubby acted as Joe Simpson's climbing double in 'Touching the Void.' and performed stunts for one of the most famous falls in climbing history. You can also view a selection of Cubby's landscape photography on the wall in our Four Seasons Pub, as well as from his website at www.cubbyimages.co.uk.
