ELEVATIONS Art Exhibition at Fired Art, by Jamie Hageman

If you're coming to the Fort William Mountain Festival this year, (16th Feb - 3rd March) make sure you pop along to the Fired Art Cafe & Gallery, situated at the west end of the High St. (Opposite police station.) where talented local mountain artist Jamie Hageman will be showcasing his highly detailed and atmospheric artworks.

Buachaillejamiepainting_1Jamie's painting style is unmistakeable. His passion for mountaineering in Scotland's high places provides endless inspiration for painting mountains from their most impressive angles.

His classic print of Buachaille Etive Mor in Glencoe (pictured) is synonymous of his style - it's on display in our Four Seasons, where you can also buy it unframed @ £25.

There will be opportunities to meet Jamie at his demonstration days, held at Fired Art Cafe throughout the festival. All artwork is available for purchase. See the Festival Website for more info.

FiredartMake sure you stay a while at Fired Art and sample some of their lovely coffee & snacks. It's a funky little place, great to chill out in - you can also paint your own pottery there. (no artistic talent required...!)

Dave Cuthbertson (Cubby) is one of Scotland's foremost climbers, with many cutting-edge, first ascents to his credit. He was instrumental in providing Scottish climbing with something of a new face-lift in the 70's and 80's (and into the 90's)and has played a significant part in the development of modern rock and ice climbing in Glen Coe; a passion that continues to this day. Cubby makes a living as an International Mountain guide, which he combines with photography and occasionally providing safety and technical consultancy to the TV and film industry. His most recent assignment was something of a starring role in which Cubby acted as Joe Simpson's climbing double in 'Touching the Void.' and performed stunts for one of the most famous falls in climbing history. You can also view a selection of Cubby's landscape photography on the wall in our Four Seasons Pub, as well as from his website at www.cubbyimages.co.uk.
